A Sewer Dynamic Model for Simulating Reaction Rates of Different Compounds in Urban Sewer Pipe

نویسندگان

چکیده

A sewer dynamic model (SDM), an innovative use of combined models, was established to describe the reactions compounds in a pilot pipe. The set ordinary differential equations SDM solved simultaneously using fourth-order Runge–Kutta algorithm. validated by calculating consistency between simulation and observation values. After validated, reaction rate analyzed. For heterotrophs water phase biofilm, their growth rates were greater than organism decay rate. ammonia, supply consumption at initial time, but smaller from 3rd hour. for other six compounds. oxygen before 4th hour because microorganism activities, and, subsequently, after reaeration. results this study provide insight into different urban pipes network modeling reference policymaking regulation.

Numerical Analysis of Sediment Transport in Sewer Pipe

The efficiency and economical performance of sewer systems is an essential issue in urban drainage. The need for sewers to carry sediment has been recognized for many years. One of the main problems in designing sewerage systems is the sediment deposition. Sedimentation in sewers occurs regularly according to the alternating natural flow. The present study investigates the hydraulic characteris...

Automated Sewer Pipe Inspection through Image Processing

An innovative inspection method to assess the condition of sewer pipes is proposed in this paper. The standard sewer inspection technique, based on closed-circuit television systems, has a very poor performance. A video camera is mounted on a robot and the video recording is provided off-line to an engineer that classifies the potential defects. The focus of the research is the automated identi...

PIRAT - A System for Quantitative Sewer Pipe Assessment

Sewers are aging, expensive assets that attract public attention only when they fail. Sewer operators are under increasing pressure to minimise their maintenance costs, while preventing sewer failures. Inspection can give early warning of failures and allow economical repair under noncrisis conditions. Current inspection techniques are subjective and detect only gross defects reliably. They can...

Life Cycle Assessment of Sewer System: Comparison of Pipe Materials

Sewer system is fundamental urban infrastructure for the public sanitation. Construction of sewer system is needed to invest a huge amount of capitals and labours as well as generates various and wastes and atmospheric emissions, and hence sewer pipes should be appropriately managed in the environemental aspect which is analysis of greenhousegases(GHGs) emissions. In this study, we investigated...

Multiobjective design of sewer networks

The sewer layout in flat areas significantly influences the construction and operational costs as well as reliability of the network performance. To find an optimum design of sewer networks for flat areas, this study presents a multi-objective optimization problem with the objective functions of 1- the cost and 2- the reliability. The reliability criterion is defined as the effect of a clogging...
